Areas of Work

The Office of the Slovenian National Commission for UNESCO performs tasks concerning Slovenia’s co-operation with UNESCO, attainment of UNESCO objectives in Slovenia and co-operation with national commissions and bodies from other countries, and NGOs. (Article 16 of the Organisation and Competence of Ministries Act, Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia no. 71/94 and no. 47/97).

• It is responsible for the implementation of the programme of the Slovenian UNESCO National Commission, programmes and recommendations adopted at general and other UNESCO conferences;
• co-operates with competent ministries and the civil society in the implementation of UNESCO programmes and activities, and conventions and recommendations in Slovenia;
• fosters international co-operation in the implementation of UNESCO programmes and activities, exchange of knowledge and experience in the field of UNESCO’s work.
